Satish Kumar, Jainist monk and ecologist, was one of the 12 public figures to be made an Honorary Graduate of the University of Exeter in summer 2009.
Honorary graduates
Twelve key figures received Honorary Degrees at the University of Exeter last July. Honorary Graduands were selected from the fields of medicine, media, law and faith to acknowledge the major contributions they have made within their fields and to society as a whole. They joined more than three thousand students in ceremonies from 21 to 27 July 2009.
