Ash Roots

Ash Roots is the University’s Chief Digital Officer and joined in February 2022, having previously been Chief Digital Officer for the consumer unit at BT.

Ash has over 20 years of experience working with a wide range of organisations on digital transformation and maximising tech opportunities, including in senior roles for Dixons Carphone, Direct Line Group, Three UK and most recently at BT on high profile brands such as EE and Plusnet. Ash has a passion for building talented digital teams that can take insight to solve problems and deliver high performing digital experiences, which he believes requires organisational confidence and agility, in addition to empowering people to make the right decisions. 

At the University, Ash intends to involve students and academics at every step of the way in designing the future digital experience, putting people at the heart of transforming education and research. 

In his spare time, Ash coaches Bovey Tracey’s under 11s girls cricket team.
