This exhibition features images, videos and 3D work created by artist Pery Burge during the course of her residency at the Thermofluids Lab in the University of Exeter’s Harrison Building.
The title of the exhibition is a quote from T.S. Eliot's Four Quartets and the aim is to explore how pattern changes through transformation, modification, self-embellishment, superimposition and decay. Pattern can regenerate itself through fresh interpretation, and this process confers new layers of meaning upon the final image. Pery also gives examples of how the language of patterning can work across different scales and different media - ink combined with water in slow and fast flows, and glass combined with light.
Much of the work on display is the outcome of Pery’s collaboration with the scientists, engineers and technicians who work at the Harrison.
This exhibition is supported by the Leverhulme Trust.
