Research excellence in Cornwall
Our investment in Cornwall involves working with Falmouth University to deliver the Cornwall 2020 Campus Plan.
Through match funding with Falmouth University, we are investing a total of £11.7m into creating world-class research facilities on our Cornwall campuses, alongside plans to improve our Penryn campus infrastructure, teaching facilities and social spaces.
This investment includes proposals to expand facilities for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, and the Business School with the SERFS extension. This £12m extension to the existing facility will accommodate further growth and is due for completion in October 2018.
As a result of this investment, we are also building a £1.67m REEF (Renewable Energy Engineering Facility) development that will result in a specialist teaching facility for the design, build, test and display of renewable energy engineering projects. Construction work for this project is already underway and the facility is due to be completed in November this year.
