Universities that count

One of the UK’s leading Universities for Corporate Responsibility

(based on Universities that Count and the BITC CR Index)

In order to help us monitor our activities and so that we can benchmark our progress, we are participating in the Universities that Count (UTC) Corporate Responsibility benchmarking programme.  This is based on the Business in the Community (BITC) model which is widely used by business and we are amongst 60 universities who are trialing this approach, for more information please see www.eauc.org.uk/utc.

We first measured ourselves in this way in 2007 as part of a regional South West pilot and achieved the highest standard - Platinum - using the Corporate Social Responsibility survey. You can see how we got on in the summary table below, which compares us to the rest of the South West project and a previous pilot with a few universities.  We still have a long way to go, as you can always improve what you are doing and at least now we have some useful tools that we can use to help us in the journey.

The first graph - with Exeter shown by the red bars- provides an overview of our CR at 2009/10 with a score of 86.4%, the following graphs - with Exeter shown in pink and lilac - relates to 2008/09 and 2007/08.
