Gaining employability skills through project work

"One of the things we get the students to do as they go through the research project is to build a case study, a little portfolio of what they're doing and the skills they're developing so they can take that into interviews with employers."

Aim 2: Excellent employment experiences & capabilities

To measure and improve the employability attributes of all students through course, extra-curricular and out-of-term-time activities

What students say:

  • "[This module] was something different, actually developing you as a person."
  • "From the beginning, we had to... pick a topic, but it was quite an open-ended topic, so then we had to decide what direction we wanted our project to go... what deadlines we wanted; we just managed the project ourselves."

Nurturing graduate skills

"The feedback we’ve had from past students and employers is that this has been an amazing thing for them to demonstrate as they go on to the next stage of their career.”
