Student engagement has positive impacts on departments

Benefits for Colleges and Departments

Student engagement is a key goal for all colleges and departments.  A peer programme exemplifies this not only by engaging students with their subject area but offering a chance for students to feel a part of the department and college. The peer leaders provide a link between the students and the tutors, whereby students can provide pertinent and timely feedback on their learning, issues and ideas.  Such information is invaluable for tutors to be able to align their sessions to student learning needs during the course of a module.  The outcome is improved achievement and favourable module feedback.

Such programmes assist students in feeling they have a meaningful voice within the department and can in turn help to inform the direction for possible future module adjustments or development.
