Choosing self catered accommodation can offer you a degree of freedom and you may find it more suitable if you require a special diet for medical or religious reasons.Accommodation options
Before you start to narrow down your choice, think about what is important to you. We make every effort to allocate accommodation according to your preferred choice. However, due to high demand for certain residences it may not be possible to offer you one of these choices.
Please be aware that we cannot guarantee to offer you accommodation on the campus on which you are studying.
Self-catered or catered?
In self-catered accommodation you cook for yourself in shared kitchens where cooking appliances are provided, but not utensils, pans, crockery, etc.
Meal packages for self catered residents may be purchased at additional cost. These meals will be provided in the catered halls of residence on either Streatham or St Luke's campus.
Catered accommodation offers a well-balanced range of meals including a vegetarian option at every meal. This can make it easier to budget.
In catered halls you are provided with breakfast and an evening meal Monday to Friday, and continental breakfast, brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Weekday lunches may be purchased from a number of outlets on both the Streatham and St Luke's Campus.
- Undergraduate students may apply for catered halls or self-catered accommodation. Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry students studying for a Bachelor of Medicine or a Bachelor of Surgery will only be offered self-catered accommodation near the St Luke's Campus.
- Postgraduate, Study Abroad and Erasmus students may only apply for self-catered accommodation.
At Exeter there is a massive range in the quality and type of accommodation that is offered, giving you the choice to choose how much you want to spend on your accommodation and therefore the quality too.'
