Allocation procedure

We make every effort to allocate accommodation according to your preferred choices. However, due to the high demand for certain residences it may not be possible to offer you any of your preferred choices. In these circumstances we use your stated preferences as a guide to the type of accommodation you would prefer and offer you alternative accommodation. If you reject an offer of accommodation, we will be unable to make you another offer unless there are special circumstances which we were unaware of at the time of allocation.

Please read through the offer of accommodation carefully and make sure it is suitable for your needs (even if it does not meet your stated preferences). You do not have to accept an offer of accommodation if it is not going to be suitable for you.

Please be aware that when allocating we do NOT take into account:

Date of application

With the exception of the short-term Erasmus and Post Graduate students, we do not allocate on a first-come first-served basis. Names are fed into a computer programme and the computer randomly places students' names onto a numbered allocation list. Rooms are then allocated on this basis.

If you have made an application and do not match the criteria for our accommodation guarantee, your application will be reviewed on a first-come; first-served basis from May onwards. We will notify you between May and September if you have been successful. However, if we are unable to make you an offer, you will be advised as soon as possible and you will need to secure accommodation in the private sector by visiting our private sector web site at www.exeterstudentpad.co.uk.

Teaching department

We try to gain a balance of students in each residence/flat from different courses to provide the best mix of students. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee you an offer of accommodation that will be on the campus of study.

Academic achievement

To help create a diverse community, we do not take into account your academic achievement.
