A twin room at Mardon Hall on the Streatham campus.
Before you apply
Gender mix
We normally allocate a mix of male and female students to each flat/floor. If you would like to request that you are placed in a male or female only flat/corridor please indicate this on your application. We cannot guarantee to place everyone who makes this request in a single-sex flat/corridor.
Twin (shared) rooms
If you are interested in sharing a twin room and, as part of the application process, you express a preference for doing so, we will do our best to satisfy your request. Many students enjoy the company of another as well as the economic benefit.
The applicable rent rebates for shared accommodation for the full year are:
- Standard - £15.96 per week discount
- Enhanced - £16.59 per week discount
- Ensuite - £25.48 per week discount
Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that new undergraduates will be given a single room. Once we have allocated all students who request a twin room, any remaining twin rooms will be allocated to the next student wanting accommodation.
It may be necessary to place some students in shared rooms as a temporary measure. If this applies to you, you will be given a rent rebate for the period you have to share until we are able to move you to your own room. Applicants must agree in their contract to move to a room of their own when requested.
Your offer of accommodation will set out exactly what we have allocated for you, and you can choose then whether to accept it or whether you would prefer to look for something else. By then, however, available choices may be limited.
Types of students
We normally allocate separate blocks of residences to undergraduates (including Study Abroad and Erasmus students) and postgraduates. However, this may not always be possible especially if the number of one group is higher than anticipated. Due to our guarantee of accommodation, our postgraduate flats are mainly occupied by international students.
