Guide to Catered Halls of Residence"Catered accommodation makes the transition to University much easier." Please navigate the following sections of this guide by using the tabs above: Room, Meals, Facilities, Letting, Parking, Smoking, TV, Phones, Disability, Cost. IntroductionIf you are a new undergraduate it’s likely that you’ll arrive at Exeter not knowing anyone. You will probably settle in to your room and say goodbye to your parents… have a coffee with your next door neighbour, join the group watching TV, take a look at the grounds and go into the first meal feeling you’ve already got to know people. Living in Hall is a great way to make friends and helps you settle in to university life straight away. For this reason our Halls are mainly reserved for new undergraduates. The Halls are all slightly different in character and in the facilities they offer. Although the majority of Hall rooms are single - in total we have 1,421 single rooms and 112 twin (shared) rooms - there are some twin (shared) rooms in all Halls except Holland Hall and St Luke's Hall, therefore we cannot guarantee that you will be given a single room. If you have a medical condition (for example diabetes) which precludes you from sharing please give the details when applying. Alternatively, if you would like to share a room, please advise us in the note section on the online application form.
Types of RoomYou will see that under the details for each catered Hall that the study bedrooms are described as standard, enhanced or en-suite.
Building WorksDue to additional housing developments within the City and on both campuses, you may find that your accommodation is close to building work and this may cause some unavoidable disturbance or inconvenience to students. If you are concerned about any building works which may be scheduled to take place near your accommodation please contact the Accommodation Office for information. Further InformationThis website gives details of each individual catered Halls of residence to assist you in making your choice, but if you have any queries or concerns, or require more information to complete your application, the staff at the Accommodation Office will be happy to help you.
