The Annual Fund makes an impact

More than 2,000 of you supported the Annual Fund this year, making it one of our most successful campaigns ever.

The Annual Fund had a very successful year, raising more than £260,000. Funds raised supported more than 30 projects across all three campuses in 2011/2012. Projects such as the ‘Healthy Halls’ Programme, which encourages and educates students living in halls to be active and healthy, as well as the ‘Volunteering Programme in Cornwall', designed to encourage students to engage with the voluntary sector both nationally and internationally, would not have been able to take place without the support of our alumni and friends.

Telethon

In 2011/2012, 80 students were recruited to call alumni as part of our annual telethon campaigns. Students called over 14,000 alumni from a wide range of countries across the world, achieving a pledge total of over £107,000. Student callers received more than 119 offers of volunteering and responded to over 340 alumni requests. The Annual Fund will directly enhance the student experience, our campuses and the surrounding community.

The telethon simply couldn’t take place without the support of current students who work as callers during term time. The telethon is a great opportunity for our students to be able to engage with alumni and to learn about the opportunities available after graduation.

Thank you to everyone who spoke to a student caller, your time and shared experiences truly are invaluable to our students.
