Volunteer Pam Healy, OBE is one of our growing number of alumni that return to volunteer for the University
Education changes lives and Exeter changed mine. Today that is a good foundation, but it’s not enough just to graduate.
As an alumni mentor I work directly with an undergraduate each year to help them acquire that edge needed to build their career, giving support, guidance and advice.
My first mentee, Katherine, joined us at the breast cancer charity ‘The Haven’ where I am CEO. She was a summer intern, and says that the experience influenced her life and career choices.
I’m currently working with Emily, who wants to join the Army. To help, I have linked her to my military contacts, who’ve provided her with insight and advice.
I also set up a paid 12-month internship at The Haven for a Business School undergraduate. A year working in the third sector during this tough economic climate gives invaluable insight.
I’m thrilled that this year I have been invited to join the Student’s Guild Board of Trustees. My small contribution gives me the personal satisfaction of doing my bit to help the University that helped me.
