Jeremy Budd

"It is immensely rewarding to be involved with so many parts of the University at all levels, including sponsorship of research projects, input into course content, advice on employability and mentoring for individual students."

Jeremy Budd (Geography 1985)

Vice President, IBM UK & Ireland

ANG Role: Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences

I joined IBM in 1985 as a graduate hire and pursued a sales career focusing on IBM’s newly established Services division before leading the management of the IT Services business in 1998 across UK, Ireland and Africa. Since then I have held several Director posts, responsible for the growth of IBM’s Services business at a European and subsequently Global level. I have been Vice-President, IBM UK & Ireland since 2009.

Since reconnecting with the University in 2008, I have been involved in numerous areas across the University, including supporting and advising on student employability, lectures on Sustainability and Career development and providing content for the One Planet MBA curriculum. In October 2011, I was on the judging panel of the Exeter Impact Awards and have used IBM’s support to help secure significant funding for research projects including the Climate Business Technology Centre.

I joined the Alumni Network Group in 2011 with responsibility for Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

The University of Exeter has ambitious and innovative plans for its ongoing success and it is immensely rewarding making a contribution to its future, whether the impact helps the University, a college, a research project or an individual student.
