Exeter alumni join celebrations with final year students

Do you remember the feeling of excitement and anticipation during the final few months of your studies? This year Exeter students celebrated this important period during a series of finalist celebration events. Alumni volunteers were part of the celebrations, visiting our Penryn and Exeter campuses to meet students and inspire them to be confident in entering their graduate lives.

Laurie Laybourn-Langton (BSc Physics, 2008) Sophie Winfield (BSc Mathematics with Finance, 2012), Adam Longfield (BSc Renewable Energy, 2010), Jamie Sweet (BSc Applied Geology, 2016) and Alex Young (BSc Mining and Minerals Engineering, 2016) all attended events to meet students from the course they graduated from. The alumni also gave a short inspirational talk about all of the opportunities open to the students as Exeter graduates, and how to make the most of them.

The events were designed to mark the end of their undergraduate studies and help students during this important transition. At the events, students from the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences were able to relax with classmates and lecturers over food and drink, and also find out how they will be supported in their graduate lives. Talks were also given by academics and career zone colleagues, and a series of awards handed out to students who had achieved in their academic study and extra-curricular engagement.
