Exetra holds regular events
Exetra - the recent alumni group
Exetra is the recent alumni group dedicated to organising social and professional networking events for graduates in London. All University of Exeter alumni who have graduated in the last 10 years are welcome to be part of the Exetra network.
About us
Exetra was founded in 2009 and is run by a committee of recent alumni volunteers who, supported by the University, organise social, networking and career focussed events. These run throughout the year to support and develop recent alumni in their careers and broaden their University network.
See a list of our forthcoming events. Past events have included pub quizzes, politics networking in the House of Lords and business skills clinics.

My History course ensured I had the people skills and self motivation to work in a large international organisation. Working within a creative marketing role, History taught me how to think expansively and formulate persuasive arguments – both extremely useful when negotiating budgets and selling in new concepts to stakeholders. The experience of living and studying abroad is also invaluable when every day in my job I work across cultural and linguistic barriers to manage projects internationally.

Exetra cater for all sorts of alumni and organise some really interesting and engaging events. The quality of the speakers and guests is constantly high and they do extremely well to achieve all this as a group of volunteers.

The Exetra committee is made up of a lovely group of people. It is very fun and satisfying working together promoting the best aspects of Exeter University. There are always exciting projects in the pipeline to get involved with.

There is a great amount that alumni can offer existing students or recent graduates in preparing to enter the jobs market. Alumni can offer valuable experience and advice in terms of how to be successful but also what to avoid doing!

Helping Exeter is a great way to stay in touch with those who share the same memories and fondness for the university and to keep up an interest there. I particularly enjoy it because it’s fun, a nice way to make friends and is also useful for making professional contacts in a wide range of industries. Most importantly, the committee is open and friendly and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone!

I would definitely encourage other Alumni to get involved as volunteering for Exetra provides you with a sense of achievement, some fantastic opportunities and is fun at the same time.

It has been great over the past couple of years seeing Exetra flourish and become established as a well-oiled machine. It is great to receive positive feedback from recent alumni about how useful our events are to them. Exetra has also provided me with a new group of friends - people who I did not know during my time at Exeter as we were there at different times.
