Golf events

Thanks to the efforts of alumni Rod Alexander and John Gilbert there are now several golfing events taking place throughout the spring and summer season.

Alumni Golf Day

Now in its seventh year, the popular Alumni Golf Day was fully-booked once again. The event is a battle of the sexes, as all-male and all-female teams fight it out on the green to be Alumni Golf Day champions. The day includes an excellent lunch and charity auction where competitors can bid for some impressive prizes.

The auction list included:

• A fantastic opportunity to take your friends to the Centre and No. 1 courts during Wimbledon
• A week-long stay in a luxury villa on the island of Cape Verde
• Four nights in a luxury city centre apartment, thanks to the Hideaways Club

Invitation Golf Day

The inaugural University of Exeter Invitation Golf Day took place at St George’s Hill Golf Club in July 2012. The event is made up of three competitions: alumni, alumni guests and mixed fours.

Feedback from the event has been extremely positive, with one alumni participant commenting: “Had a fab day at St George’s – great course, good food and the rain stayed off till the afternoon by which time we were all back!”

Student v Alumni Golf Weekend

For the last four years the Students v Alumni Golf Weekend has taken place in the beautiful spring sunshine at Dawlish Warren Golf Club. Current students and alumni battle on the fairways  to win the coveted Northcote Trophy. The Golf Weekend is well-known not only for its highly competitive spirit, but the fun atmosphere both on and off the course.
