What has been the highlight of your time at Exeter?

I have particularly enjoyed taking part in various environment-related volunteering projects, which I started being involved in in my second year. These projects have helped me to develop an interest in the environment and inspired me to apply for Master’s in environmental science. They were also a great way to spend free time, as I really enjoyed going to Dartmoor and other places and doing conservation work outside.

What will you miss the most about University?

I will definitely miss my friends as well as the projects and societies that I took part in. I will also miss the University as a whole, as I really enjoyed going to lectures and studying on campus.

What did you enjoy about your particular degree programme?

I was very happy with most of my modules, which I have found to be not only very well-taught and organised, but also very interesting and relevant to other disciplines and current issues. I also really enjoyed being able to pick my own essay questions for most of my modules, as I could focus on the aspects that were of particular interest to me.

What advice would you give to current and future students?

I would advise current and future students to follow their interests in choosing their modules and their dissertation topic. I have found that even though some modules or topics may be more difficult than others, going with what interests you will in the end result in a better grade. I would also advise students to take part in various extra-curricular activities, such as volunteering or sport, which are not only fun but also a valuable addition to future job or Master’s applications. Lastly, I would also encourage students to take part in the Career Mentoring Scheme, which I found very valuable as it provided me with excellent advice regarding my future career choices and applications for postgraduate study.

What are your plans now that you have graduated?

I am starting a Master’s degree at the University of Edinburgh, after which I am planning to apply for a PhD.
