LLB Law with European Study (2017) - & winner of the Public International Law Prize

Tell us about the award you have received. What does this award mean to you?

I have received the Public International Law Prize, which is awarded to the student who receives the best overall mark in the Public International Law module. Whilst I found the module very interesting and engaging, its breadth was challenging. Therefore, I am very proud to have my hard work recognised through this award.

What has been the highlight of your time at Exeter?

It is difficult to pick a highlight, but what has made my time at Exeter so special is that I have been lucky enough to meet so many wonderful people. I have met people who have inspired me, supported me, and who will be my friends for a very long time to come.

What will you miss the most about University?

I have really enjoyed the student experience. I will miss the freedom to explore subjects and opportunities that interest me, with each year offering a fresh range of experiences. I am delighted to be staying in Exeter, so thankfully I do not have to say goodbye to the beautiful city as well.

What did you enjoy about your particular degree programme?

Switching from LLB Law to the 4 year programme with a year abroad was one of the best decisions I have made. My year abroad studying law at Maastricht University in the Netherlands was a once in a lifetime experience. It was a fantastic opportunity to explore a new country, culture, and variety of modules. It has greatly helped not only my academic and career progression, but also my personal development.

What advice would you give to current and future students?

I would advise students to make the most of the opportunities available to them at university; there will never be so much freedom and choice. Go for the modules, experiences and societies that interest you and you think you will enjoy. Every experience offers something valuable and rewarding, so the only reason for regret is by not taking an opportunity.

What are your plans now that you have graduated?

In September I will start the LPC with the University of Law. Following that I am very excited to start my training contract with Stephens Scown.
