LLB Law with European Study with Advanced Proficiency in French (2018)

What did you enjoy about your degree programme?

The programme allowed me to gradually develop my interest in particular areas of the law and to really tailor my learning towards my future career plans as they developed. I was able to study French during the first two years of my degree which was very important to me when I applied to university. Being able to spend a year abroad in Geneva and to complete the Certificate of Transnational Law exposed me to different styles of legal thinking and enabled me to make an informed choice about the modules I did in my final year. I also particularly appreciated the openness of the academic staff who were able to support me and challenge my thinking, and who made the overall learning process a very enjoyable experience!

Tell us about the award you have received. What does this award mean to you?

I have been awarded the Hart Publishing Prize for the best performance in the Law of Trusts module. It is wonderful to know that all the hard work I put into my final year has been recognised. This is also thanks to the fantastic academic team on this module who made Trusts very accessible!

What has been the highlight of your time at Exeter?

It is difficult to pick one! Writing my dissertation on a topic that I am deeply interested in was probably my biggest academic highlight. Otherwise, being part of the Exeter Soul Choir and President of the Polish Society were definitely one of the best experiences I had whilst at Exeter.

What will you miss the most about University?

I will miss the atmosphere of the campus and being able to access all the opportunities that Exeter has to offer – both academic and extra-curricular.

What advice would you give to current and future students?

Try to make sure that your interest guides your module choices. Putting in extra hours of work is inevitable if you really want to get the high grades – this may sometimes be daunting but if you choose the modules you like, the interest will drive your learning!

If you need that little bit of extra help, do not be afraid to ask! All the staff at Exeter are genuinely there to help you and they will welcome you with open hands if you have doubts about anything.

What are your plans now that you have graduated?

I will pursue an LLM in Public International Law at the University of Leiden.
