Exeter Sport

This autumn and winter sees a number of sporting events and activities at the University of Exeter - ranging from the annual football and rugby varsity fixtures to a weekend sailing extravaganza.

The annual football varsity will this year be held on Wednesday 6th October. As in previous years, the 'Town vs Gown' fixture sees the University's 1st XI take on Exeter City at St. James Park. Proceeds from this years event will be donated to two charities, the Cardiomyopathy Association, in memory of Michael Polden, a Sports Science student at Exeter who died suddenly of the disorder while out jogging with friends and the Adam Stansfield Football Foundation, a charity created in memory of the Exeter City player who tragically died of cancer in August this year. Every year thousands of students and Exeter residents attend the Varsity fixture and this year the Football Club wish to extend an invitation to all Exeter Alumni. Tickets are available on the door for £6 and the game will kick-off at 1930. For more information about attending, contact the Athletic Union on 01392 722152 or au@exeter.ac.uk
