University seeks nominations for Honorary Graduates

We are now seeking nominations for honorary graduates for 2011. Alumni can nominate other alumni or prominent individuals.

The deadline for nominations is 1 October, 2010. Nominations can be made by emailing Holly Peterson, Head of Alumni Relations, at H.Peterson@ex.ac.uk. We will then send you a Honorary Graduate Nomination Form to submit to us.

Decisions on the award of honorary degrees are made by a Joint Committee of Senate & Council. All nominations must be for candidates who have demonstrated outstanding merit and personal distinction. The Committee will be particularly interested in candidates who fulfil one or more of the following additional criteria:

  1. Deserve thanks for significant service to the University or the region
  2. Have overcome significant obstacles to achieve their success
  3. Have a link to the University’s interests, particularly in: cultural and performing arts, law, business (leadership), environment, science, education, sport/exploration, international markets, and the South West.
  4. Reflect the diversity and gender balance of the University community.
  5. Have the capacity and willingness to build a continuing relationship with the University

This year we had some truly outstanding honorary graduates and we hope that between us we can match that achievement in 2011. For more information, see our website We look forward to receiving your nominations.
