Exetra in the House of Lords

Exetra hosted its latest successful networking event ,focusing on Government & Public Affairs careers, in the prestigious House of Lords hosted by Baroness Anita Gale.

Seventy-five alumni joined the Exetra Committee – the group for recent alumni – on Thursday 16 February to listen to talks from alumni on their careers and to gain their insight and advice on how to cut it in their industry.

The speakers included; Andrew Slaughter (English 1982), Labour MP, John Dawson (Music 1981) Parliamentary Assistant and Judy Hargadon (Economics 1973), Chief Executive of the School Food Trust.

Following the talks alumni were invited to ‘speed network’ with a further 10 alumni volunteers all experienced and successful in the public affairs and government fields. This gave people the perfect opportunity to make contacts, learn from their peers and ask for further advice from fellow Exeter Alumni. Our volunteers also included Luke Pollard (Politics, 2001), Head of Public Affairs, ABTA – The travel Association, Elizabeth Butler, (Mathematics, 1982) Chair, Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Sam Mackover(Politics, 1990), Conservative local Councillor.
