EGD team recognised for outstanding service

The Employability and Graduate Development (EGD) team has been accredited with the matrix Standard; a nationally recognised quality mark for organisations that provide support to individuals in order to make learning and work more accessible.

Following a self assessment exercise, the team took three months to achieve the required standard. During this time it streamlined its policies, worked together to improve the service for students and focused on continuing quality improvements.

Leanne Fennell-Green, Career Zone Manager explained: “The EGD team supports around 20,000 students and recent graduates and we wanted to ensure that they were receiving the best information, advice and guidance possible. We decided that the matrix Standard, amongst other things, would help us to identify key strengths and areas for improvement. Having worked on both, we now have an external seal of approval."

David Allan, Managing Director at emqc Ltd who administer the scheme on behalf of the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) said of the Exeter’s achievement: “This matrix Accreditation is another example of how the matrix Standard is proving effective for all types of organisations, helping them to provide a more professional and tailored offering and to strive to be the best in their sector.”

The careers service at the University of Exeter has been established for over 50 years and is based in the Forum on the Streatham Campus and in the Exchange on the Cornwall campus.
