Alumnus provides inspirational support to students

The ‘Tony Allen Scholarship Programme’ created in 2010 through Tony’s generosity supports undergraduate students from Devon to study at Exeter no matter their personal circumstances or background. 11 students from Devon have so far received support to study at the University, and thanks to Tony’s recent pledge to provide ongoing support for the programme in his will, this number is set to rise.

Tony, from the Physics Class of 1965, lives locally, and established the programme to ensure that others were able to benefit from the whole Exeter experience. Tony believes his own time at University was one of the most valuable periods in his life.

Tony is an advocate and ambassador for young people within his local community, having served as a judge on the Bovey Tracey ‘Young Citizen of the Year’ award for many years.

Andrew Bartlett (Law) will graduate in 2017

"Without the support of the ‘Tony Allen Scholarship’ I would not have been able to study at Exeter. The Scholarship has enabled me to concentrate on my studies without financial distractions or worries”

Kate Bowden (Biological Sciences) will graduate this year;

“The Tony Allen scholarship has undoubtedly allowed me the freedom and opportunities that I would otherwise have been without”
