Exeter law graduate Fiona Shackleton becomes peer
Alumna Fiona Shackleton has become a life peer.
She studied law at Exeter, graduating in 1977, and has since gone on to represent Prince Charles, Prince Andrew and Sir Paul McCartney, among others, during her high-profile career.

Sculpture Lecture by renowned artist
Join us for a lecture by honorary graduate and sculptor Peter Randall-Page, whose recent sculpture 'Flayed Stone II'  is currently on loan to the University. The lecture will be held on Friday, 3 December in the Queen's Building, LT1. 

Enter the 2011 Paddon Award 
The Paddon Award is an arts-themed competition open to all University of Exeter students, staff and alumni.  This year's award is a musical composition on the theme of 'new horizons - music in a cross-cultural landscape'.  We invite you to enter.

Vice Chancellor joins Prime Minister in China 
Professor Steve Smith, Vice Chancellor and President of Universities UK, joined Prime Minister David Cameron in Beijing and gave a keynote lecture at one of China's premier Universities. Professor Smith also hosted receptions for alumni in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.

Alumnus leads 'bioblitz' at the University
On 9 October, broadcaster and naturalist Nick Baker led a group of over 150 volunteering students, academics, members of the public and Devon Wildlife Trust experts for the first ever Bioblitz at the University of Exeter.

Nobel prize winner speaks at Exeter
A capacity crowd of nearly 400 packed into the University’s biggest lecture theatre to hear the 2010 Nobel Prize winner, Professor Kostya Novoselov, speak about the research which led to the discovery of graphene, the thinnest known conducting material.

World Gold for student windsurfer
Izzy Hamilton is on top of the world again after clinching a second successive gold medal at windsurfing's RS:X World Youth Championships. In a separate event, an Exeter alumna claimed a bronze medal in surfing.

Sailing reunion and launch of new boats
2010 marks the 75th anniversary of the University’s Sailing Club and to celebrate the club is hosting a sailing event for current students and alumni over the weekend of 11th and 12th December.
