Exeter alumnus breaks Guinness World Record

An Exeter graduate has become a Guinness World Record holder following a charity challenge last year.

Adam Leyton (Computer Science, 2001), beat the world record for the number of countries visited in 24 hours using only scheduled transport, by managing to set foot in 12 countries in 23 hours and 52 minutes. It was a record that hadn’t been broken for 23 years!

Adam completed his challenge in May 2016 but it wasn’t until December that he received confirmation of the world record.

Adam, who also raised nearly £1500 for stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands in the process, said: “It was an incredible adventure. I beat a world record, raised a huge amount for charity and hit the news in 35 countries across 4 continents.”
