Exetra, the recent alumni group, recently ran an event which aimed give practical advice and guidance to graduates who were looking to change their career.

“Changing career can often be a difficult and daunting process” said Fred Puckle Hobbs, graduate and member of the Exetra committee, “we wanted to give graduates a platform to discuss their situations with fellow alumni and gain advice from our experienced speakers to help them move forward and succeed.”

The event took place in a speed networking format and featured a range of career experts including a Careers Consultant and the Chairman of a Trust.

Emma Rosen, speaker and Founder of 25 before 25 said “I really enjoyed the opportunity to share my experiences and offer advice to graduates. As a recent alumni myself I can appreciate how difficult it is to find and secure a job that really suits you and that you can be your best in.”

One attendee remarked “Exetra have once again shown their commitment to showcasing the best for Exeter graduates with a different, interesting and informative evening; a great opportunity to network and a chance to speak frankly about career needs with some knowledgeable individuals. Thank you.”

Created in 2009, Exetra is the alumni group for recent graduates (up to 10 years). The group has held more than 25 events so far, attended by over 700 individual alumni. Throughout the year the committee organise social, networking, and professional development events. To keep up with the latest news, join the Facebook group: www.facebook.com/groups/exetra.alumni
