Alumnus runner-up in top education award

During his time at Exeter, Liam helped to organise Pride on Campus events and raised awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, as well as volunteered his time to fundraise for disaster relief. He also worked with the Students’ Guild to boost small business and encourage spending in the local community rather than large stores, and helped with the development of the University’s Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) - Climate Change: Science and Climate Change: Solutions.

 Professor Tim Quine, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) at the University of Exeter said: “The University is extremely proud of Liam’s achievements.

“As a student, and now an alumnus, Liam is a true representation of the University’s values of collaboration, community, ambition, rigour, impact and challenge. We are delighted that he was able to make the most of the academic and extra-curricular opportunities available at the University and he is a role model for all of our students.”

Liam said: "I feel very lucky and proud to be a finalist alongside some fantastic people from across the country.

“I am very thankful to everybody who has helped me throughout my time at Exeter, including the support of the Geography department and University Senior Management team who continually encouraged me in my endeavours.

“Every project that I was involved in was a collaboration and team effort between students and staff - a very unique opportunity that makes a degree at Exeter different from any other university."
