Exeter alumnus honoured by British Council in Egypt

He was one of three award winners selected from more than 1,200 applicants from around the world, for their outstanding achievements as business professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders, and for their important contribution to strengthening collaborative ties between the UK and Egypt.

Samir was presented with his award at The British Embassy in Cairo, on Tuesday, 26 February 2019. Now in its fifth year, the prestigious international award celebrates UK higher education and the achievements of UK alumni all over the world.

Samir is now Head of Professional Development at Teachers First Egypt, where he plans, leads and supports Teachers First CPD workshops and SPD Lighthouse School Networks. He has taken part in discussions with UNICEF, the World Bank, and the Ministry of Education and since 2016, has started Instructional Coaching to help empower senior teachers and supervisors of English in Monofia, in the Nile Delta.

Samir said: “To win the Study UK Alumni Professional Achievement Award has been very exciting. It highlights how taking global education expertise into Egyptian context has been productive. Such recognition is a career milestone that means more commitment, hard work and community service.”
