Gift of time reaches a new high

2013/14 has been a fantastic year for our alumni volunteering programme with more alumni involved than ever before. More than 800 alumni volunteered across the last academic year to support Exeter, between them completing more than 1,000 volunteering activities and donating more than 9,000 hours of their time.

2013/14 has been a fantastic year for our alumni volunteering programme with more alumni involved than ever before. More than 800 alumni volunteered across the last academic year to support Exeter, between them completing more than 1,000 volunteering activities and donating more than 9,000 hours of their time.

Alumni have been supporting us at all levels; giving talks and guest lectures, mentoring students, writing blogs and articles, hosting events, contributing to research, bringing industry experience and insights to the curriculum, promoting the Exeter brand, supporting the alumni community and providing valuable strategic advice and guidance to University staff and more.

Dave Watson, Head of Supporter Engagement, says; "We are so grateful to all of the alumni who have given their expertise and time to support us over the course of the last academic year. Our alumni volunteers are absolutely integral to the success of the University. Without the time, effort, enthusiasm and commitment of our volunteers, we could not provide the services we do here at Exeter.

"Of course it’s fantastic to see more alumni getting involved each year. But, more importantly, it’s about the impact alumni volunteers have on our institution; on our students, our staff and our alumni community. For example, students supported by our volunteer career mentors demonstrate above-average employability 6 months after graduation".

We would like to say thank you to everyone who gave a gift of time last year, big or small. You make Exeter special.
