Professor John Usher

John Usher Memorial Fund

In September 2008, Professor John Usher, Head of the Law School, sadly died.

John had a distinguished career here at Exeter as well as at other institutions.

His association with Exeter began in 1967, and he returned to the Law School twice more during his career: between 1986 and 1995 he was Professor of European Law and Director of the Centre for European Legal Studies; and in 2004 he became Head of the Law School.

During his time at Exeter, John was committed to helping the students of the Law School to reach their full potential, and for this reason the University has decided to honour John’s belief in his students by setting up a scholarship fund in his name. The aim of the fund will be to support Law students who find themselves in hardship, by giving them access to financial resources that will enable them to excel in their studies.
