Learning Together In Tandem.

The Tandem Language Exchange Initiative received £8,500 of funding from the Annual Fund to help students to find a tandem partner to meet up with and practice each other's language.

Annual Fund grant application process goes live

The Annual Fund grant application process is now live. Bid for up to £5,000 worth of funding towards a project that will make a difference to the student experience.

The funding pot available is made up of gifts donated by alumni and supporters of the University of Exeter.

A maximum of £5,000 will be allocated to any one project. Funding for projects which require recurrent funding (up to three years) will receive one year of funding initially, after which a project report must be submitted before further funding will be considered

The Annual Fund is supported by donations from the University’s alumni, staff and parents of current students. Funds are distributed twice a year in June and December. A disbursement panel comprising academic and professional services staff, representatives from the Student’s Guild and current Annual Fund donors, will consider the applications before a final decision is made by the Dual Assurance Board.

In 2008/09, the Annual Fund raised £198,000 from alumni and friends. A large proportion of this was raised through the “telethon” – whereby current students call past students (our “alumni”) to talk about their Exeter memories and share the latest news of life at the University.

Over the year, 70 students telephoned 6,450 alumni living throughout the UK, as well as in Ireland, the USA and Canada. A total of 41 projects benefited from funding, ranging from a scheme to mentor students to student allotments for the Cornwall campus.

Applications for funding should be made using the process outlined below. The deadline for applications is Monday 10th May 2010. Please read the Guidance Notes before completing the Grant Application Form

Applications must be sent electronically to l.a.fowler@exeter.ac.uk and a paper copy must be sent to Louise Fowler, Development & Alumni Relations Office, Northcote House.

If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact Louise Fowler, Development Officer at l.a.fowler@exeter.co.uk or telephone 01392 725013.

Date: 22 March 2010
