More than 30 alumni and supporters attended the Donor and Legacy Lunch 2010.

Special event to thank donors and legacy pledgers who have laid foundation for campaign

The celebratory Donor and Legacy Lunch 2010 was held at Xfi , on the University’s Streatham campus on Saturday, July 3. The event took place prior to the Vice-Chancellor’s Garden Party on the same day. The aim of the event was to thank some of the University’s most generous supporters and to recognise the role in supporting Exeter’s development campaign - Creating a world-class University together.

Among the guests were Nicholas Bull (Chemistry 1973), Chair of the Fundraising Campaign Board, and Hugh Stubbs (History 1968), the Chair of the Devonshire Circle, who cut a campaign cake. Following lunch, David Allen, the University’s Deputy Chief Executive and Registrar, and then Nicholas Bull, gave speeches in which they thanked the alumni and supporters at the lunch for their philanthropic support.

Tributes were also paid to Hugh Stubbs, who is standing down as the Chair of the Devonshire Circle of legacy pledgers and as a member of Council. Tours were then held around the campus to demonstrate the impact that gifts are playing in building a world-class university.

Susie Hills, Director of Development and Alumni Relations, said: ‘We are delighted to have been able to hold this special event to thank the generosity of our alumni and supporters. The support of our alumni and friends has laid the foundation for our campaign – Creating a world-class University together. It was an enormous pleasure to celebrate the contribution that our supporters have already made at the Donor and Legacy Lunch 2010.'

The University of Exeter campaign – Creating a world-class University together, aims to raise £23 million, to secure more than 250 legacy pledges and to recruit 2012 hours of volunteers’ time for Exeter by 2012.
