In the space below, you can display Muybridge's photographs of a mare called Annie galloping. Simply move your mouse over the thumbnail pictures at the bottom to bring up a picture in the middle of the page. By moving your mouse along the whole line you can create a moving image. You can slow this down or speed it up, depending on how fast you move the mouse. You can freeze the picture at a particular moment. You can run the 'film' backwards by moving from right to left. You could even try showing every other frame. All this will give you an idea of the way that the frames of a film can be manipulated to give different effects. (Make sure that you wait until all the images are loaded before trying the animation.)
