Contagion Workshop

| Time | 10.30-15.15 |
| Location | Streatham Court 0.28, Business School, Streatham Campus |
This first workshop for the BTG-funded project on Contagion drew together a group of people interested in the dynamics of contagion, in issues that might lend themselves to ‘contagious’ thinking and in the development of new methods for studying rapid bio-socio-technical changes.
The workshop was led by the Project's lead investigator, Steve Hinchliffe (Geography), who gave an introductory talk: 'Thinking about contagions'. This was followed by a series of informal short presentations on existing projects or issues that relate to ‘contagion’:
'Violence' - Mark Levine (Psychology)
'Robotic swarms' - Robin Durie (Politics)
'Viruses' - Gabriella Giannachi (English)
'Social networks' - Zena Wood (Maths and Computer Sciences)
'Epidemiology' - Clive Sabel (Geography) - download presentation (UoE staff only)
'Computational formalisms for modelling contagion' - Anthony Galton (Maths and Computer Sciences)
'Theorising contagion responses' - Pepe Romanillos (Geography) - download presentation (UoE staff only)
Participants worked in groups to identify other topics for Contagion, developing a common resource and the future format for Project workshops and activities.
