Accommodation

Where to live?

Choosing where to live in Exeter is an important decision. In this section of the Community pages we aim to add updates in the near future about the main residential areas of Exeter, with descriptions of local services, public amenities and links to community websites.

In the meantime, Rory Cunningham can signpost you to general information.

If you are new to Exeter there are many websites that can provide useful information about local areas. ‘UpMyStreet’ is an online search tool that can generate ’profiles’ for local communities in and around Exeter.

Exeter City Council’s website also provides general information for city residents that students living off campus would find useful.

Accommodation Guide

The University offers a wide range of accommodation, from catered halls, self-catering flats and shared houses to self-contained family flats.

For further advice, or to download the latest copy of the Accommodation Brochure, please visit the University’s Accommodation website.

Your rights as a tenant

The Students’ Guild Advice Unit has produced guides, 'Looking for Accommodation' and 'Looking for Accommodation: International students' which provide information to assist in your search for appropriate accommodation.

The Advice Unit also offers a service to check your tenancy agreement and explain your rights as a tenant/occupant. See their Housing section for a range of resources that may help you.

Landlord accreditation

The University is currently working in partnership with the City Council the Students’ Guild to develop a Landlord Accreditation Scheme for Exeter. This scheme will recognise a set of standards outlining key Landlord responsibilities throughout the city.

We will be updating the Community pages when we have further information.
