Director of Campus Services

Phil joined the University of Exeter Sports Office in 1999 as the University’s first Director of Sport, a position he held for 15 years.

In October 2013 Phil stepped up to become Deputy Director of Campus Services and Director of Sport and then in July 2014 became the Director (following a period as Acting Director).

Phil is responsible for the strategic leadership of Campus Services as well as overseeing special projects across the Service.

Phil represents the University on the Boards of FX Plus and the Exeter Northcott Theatre and plays a key role in the University’s relationship with the city community

Sarah Snow

Sarah Snow

Acting Director of Commercial Services

Sarah joined the University in 1987 as Office Junior. During her time at the University Sarah has worked in many different roles to further her career. She now has strategic and operational responsibility of Event Exeter, the Commercial Services marketing team, Reed Hall, the Forum and the Great Hall.

Sarah is on the Board of Directors of two membership organisations affiliated to the University. These are Heart of Devon which is the regional tourism partnership and Venuemasters a marketing consortium based in Sheffield representing over 80 UK academic venues.

Sarah is also a staff and student mentor.

Hugh McCann

Hugh McCann

Director of Estate Services

Hugh joined the University in 2000 and is responsible for the management of the University’s estate including strategic planning and capital project delivery.

In recent years Hugh has led the University’s £450 million investment in campus facilities including the development of the £48 million Forum.

Hugh was formerly Director of the Estate Development Service, is a qualified chartered building surveyor, and has been in the buildings industry for 30 years working for Architects, Contractors, Private Practice and for Defence Estates, with a spell in various architectural practices in Australia.

Iain Park

Director of Grounds

Iain joined the University of Exeter as the Director of Grounds in September 2007. He is responsible for maintaining the grounds extending to a total of 153 hectares.  The gardens cover 100 hectares over the two campuses with the Streatham Campus being registered as a Botanic Garden.  The remaining grounds include excellent sporting facilities in various locations in Exeter.

He graduated from Strathclyde University with a BSc Hons in Horticulture and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Studies from Napier University.  He previously worked in Edinburgh as the Parks Manager for the City, managing 1600 hectares of public open space in the Scottish capital.

Alison Davidson

Director of Sport

Alison became Director of Sport in 2014 and has 20 years experience within the leisure industry. Prior to joining the University she worked for a number of organisations within the leisure sector, extensively with the ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) since 2002, becoming Regional Director in 2004 and then Divisional Business Manager of the South and West Region in April 2013.  Alison has been involved in managing national programmes of the NGB and overseeing strategic delivery across the south of the Country.  As Director of Sport Alison leads the University of Exeter Sport team, overseeing each department and working closely with the directors and assistant directors of each area.

Wendy Courtney

Wendy Courtney

Director of Facilities Management

Wendy joined the University in 1999 working with the Staff Learning and Development Team.  During her time at the University Wendy has undertaken a variety of management and leadership roles, with a key focus on driving forward service excellence and continuous improvement across the services she has worked for.

A highlight for Wendy was graduating from Exeter in 2005 gaining her Master’s in Business Management .

Currently the Director of Facilities Management with a team of 320 staff.  Wendy is responsible for the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of the Facilities Management Team.  In addition she has a key leadership role across both Estate Services and Campus Services.

Paul Mucklow

Director of Engineering and Direct Works

Paul joined the University in 2005 as the Principal Mechanical Engineer and is now responsible for the Engineering and Direct Works Team whose primary focus is to keep the University running from a maintenance perspective as well as keeping the carbon emissions down on the Streatham and St Luke's  Campuses.

Paul’s wide and varied career as a Chartered Engineer and Environmentalist includes delivering engineering projects in Eastern Europe, working in Hong Kong on cleaning up effluent pollution in the harbour and for the last ten years working at the University as part of our Estates Team.

Tricia Punchard

Tricia Punchard

Assistant Director Campus Services, Residences

Tricia has over 30 years’ experience in the Hospitality Industry and joined the University in 1985 as a Hall Manager. In 2001 Tricia took up the role of Assistant Director Campus Services, Residences.

Tricia is responsible for the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of the Residential Services team. This includes the day to day operational running of University owned and leased properties (over 5,000 bed spaces) as well as the Accommodation Office and Residence Life Team.

A key part of her role involves managing the University’s contractual relationship with a number of private accommodation providers including UPP, Unite and Spectrum Housing.
