An investment of £130 million in new student accommodation on Streatham campus will provide 2,600 new places. The new residences will be bright, modern and designed to the highest standards, they also draw on the latest sustainable living technology.
The residences will be delivered by our private sector partners University Partnerships Programme (UPP) and INTO.
The development is part of the University of Exeter’s commitment to reducing pressure on the city’s housing stock by accommodating more students on campus.
A mixture of modern enhanced, en-suite and studio rooms set in an attractive area at the edge of the campus. This UPP scheme offers more than eight hundred additional rooms. Work started in July 2009, and was completed in September 2011 in time for the return of students for the Autumn Term.
Four new residences at Lafrowda, as part of the redevelopment, were completed and opened their doors to students for the start of the Autumn Term 2011. The second phase of the project, which saw the demolition of a further number of existing residences, began in June 2011 and is scheduled to continue into 2012.
This is a UPP development at the north end of the campus which will provide quality accommodation of more than 1,300 units.
The first phase of this project, which will see INTO provide around 500 units of accommodation for international students, was completed in May 2011. A further 180 rooms are currently being built by UPP on the same site, and will be completed by the summer of 2012.
