Paul Hirst
Insurance and Business Continuity Manager
Paul oversees the work of the team and provides advice and assistance on the more complex insurance, business continuity and risk management issues.
Paul has spent more than 15 years in the insurance industry, running his own insurance practice for most of that time. Before joining the University, in July 2007, Paul worked in the NHS as an internal audit manager and holds Chartered Internal Auditor status. Paul also holds the ILM Level 5 Introductory Diploma in Management.

Sue Dummett
Business Continuity Advisor
Sue joined the University in January 2009 having previously worked in the financial, charity and education sectors. Sue has a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree and holds the Certificate of the British Continuity Institute.
Sue's main role is to coordinate the creation and maintaining of business continuity plans across the University. Sue can help you write your plans and devise exercises to rehearse them. She also has materials and resources to help make business continuity easier for you.

Trudi Legge
Insurance and Risk Advisor
Trudi has worked in the insurance industry for several years and has held positions with Prudential and Aviva as well as a long established Insurance Broker in Exeter. She is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds the ILM Level 3 in First Line Management.
Trudi joined the University of Exeter in November 2010. Her main role is to advise on and arrange insurance cover for the University of Exeter and its staff and students. She is also responsible for advising on techniques for completing risk assessments.

Tim Farrell
Insurance Advisor (part-time Thursday and Friday)
Tim’s role is to provide advice to the University regarding Insurance. He has a BA (Hons) Business Studies degree and gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Tim joined the University in November 2007 and became a member of the Insurance team in April 2008. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holds Chartered Insurance Practitioner status.

Emma Hewerdine
Travel Insurance Advisor
Emma joined the University in April 2011 after spending 11 years working in the environmental field. The last four of these years was spent working on improving internal processes using Six Sigma and lean techniques. Emma has a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental and Resource Science and a MSc in Water Pollution Technology.
Emma's role is to implement the new travel insurance approach and the Travel Tracker system as well as overseeing the Travel Insurance Process. She is the main point of contact for all Travel Insurance enquires.
