Legal and Insurance
We often ask if you have completed a risk assessment. This is important because:
- Our insurers expect risk assessments to be completed for the activities they insure.
- If you are supervising staff or students, completing a risk assessment forms an important part of meeting your duty of care.
- In the event of a claim, especially if this involves an injury, the claimant’s solicitors will ask for a copy of the risk assessment – and we will be heavily criticised if there isn’t one.
- Completing a risk assessment forms part of the planning stage of an activity and sometimes throws up some interesting issues.
But we know that completing a risk assessment can sometimes feel like a laborious task and of little value to you. So, we have developed an approach that is effective yet simple and straightforward. More importantly it takes less time than traditional approaches, users tell us it makes sense and they have found the exercise useful in planning their activity.
We call this new approach Management of Outcomes. Please contact Legal and Insurance Services for more information.
