Printing FAQs
How do I add money to my print account?
There are 'Account Loaders' located in Fourm Library level 0 and in Haighton PC Clusters. Both machines accepts notes and coins from 2p up to £10. The Forum device also accepts Chip & Pin transactions (minimum chip & pin transaction £5).
You can also add money to your print account via the University's online web payment page. Minimum payment here is £3.
I've been mischarged for printing, can I get a refund?
If you've been mischarged because page count of printed pages has been wrong, or the printer itself has failed to print or mutilated your output, email the IT Helpdesk with details, or you can visit the helpdesk in person. We'll then check our logs and refund as appropriate.
I'd like to print in larger format than A4, is this something I can do?
Yes, the larger Xerox devices can provide A3 print & copy. There is a notice on each Xerox device to tell you if it can print in A3 but the basic rule is that the floor-standing Xerox devices can print A3, whereas the smaller devices that sit on tables can't !
To print on A3:
In the printer properties dialogue box select the ‘Paper/Output’ tab in ‘Printer Properties’.
Click on the down-arrow to right of the ‘Paper’ box.
Select ‘Other size’, and in the ‘Output paper size’ select ‘A3’.
Select ‘Automatically scale’ in ‘Scale options’ and ‘OK’.
For larger size formats, the University's Print & Copy Services are able to offer poster printing at £12 for A2, £20 for A1 and £27 for A0, and offer other substrates beside paper, such as canvas - very useful for taking a large poster for presentation to a conference for instance.
I’ve selected a high-volume job to print, and I need to cancel it quickly – how do I do this?
Press the Job List button (middle button on the left of the touch-screen with a letter ‘i’ on a stack of paper), and the screen will list the jobs the device is printing. Highlight your job and select Delete from the menu. You will be asked to confirm deletion. Note: If the job has already started printing, the device will continue to print what it has in its buffer, even after the job has been deleted. However, this should only be a few pages.
