ACCESSIBILITY GROUP
We are looking for new members to join the Accessibility Group, who meet to discuss implications that the Forum Project plans will have
on those less mobile on campus. The group have met a few times already as the project has moved through various stages of design and has been attended
by some students. However, we are in need of more volunteer students interested in this topic to come forward and join the group. Please email the
Forum team using the email address at the bottom of this page to express your interest.
STUDENT DEBATE
On 23rd October 2009, nearly 100 students and staff attended an event organised by the Debating Society about the Forum Development.
University Registrar and Deputy Chief Executive, David Allen, proposed the motion that ‘The Forum will enhance the Student Experience.’
He was supported by Student Guild Sabbatical Education Officer Llywelyn Morris. The proposition raised a number of key points,
including the introduction of a student services centre, provision of over 800 new learning spaces, the creation of a ‘centre’ for
the Streatham campus and the beneficial impact on the value of Exeter qualifications if the future.
The opposition stated that the money could be spent elsewhere on resources such as staff, and listed the difficulties faced by
societies during this period of development.
The motion won by 4 votes to 1, following some detailed questions from the audience.
