The topic you would like to discuss with a Careers Consultant may not be evident from the previous list of categories. Don’t worry; we receive such a diverse range of queries that it’s impossible to cover them all.
We can help you at whatever stage you’re at in planning your future and you can talk to a careers consultant about anything related to jobs, career planning or further study. As well as the typical enquiries such as; ‘Help! I don’t know what I want to do after I graduate’, we often encounter questions such as;
- Is it a good idea to organise a gap year when the job market is so competitive?
- I’ve been offered several graduate training schemes. Which one should I accept?
- I have a disability. Should I disclose this to an employer as part of my cover letter?
- I want to teach but haven’t got a GCSE in maths. What are my options?
- I want to develop my leadership skills. What would impress a graduate employer?
There may not be a simple answer to these types of questions but the opportunity to talk through the pros and cons with an impartial careers consultant may help you arrive at a well informed decision.
If you’re still not sure whether we are the best people to deal with your enquiry the best course of action is to visit the Career Zone in person or give us a call – if we’re unable to help, I’m sure we can point you in the right direction!
How to prepare for an appointment
- Be clear about the nature of your enquiry and prepare some questions to help focus the discussion
