There are a range of benefits for offering a student an internship within your business.

Student Business Partnership

Would you like up to 12 weeks dedicated to solving just one of the challenges you face in developing your business? Our Student Business Partnerships have helped hundreds of companies to do just that.

Students would mainly be available for internships during Easter, Summer and Christmas vacation periods, however some students, particularly post-graduates, may be available for part-time roles throughout the year.

Internships include:

  • IT & E-Commerce
  • Business Plans
  • Feasibility Analysis
  • Marketing and PR
  • Product Development
  • Scientific Research
  • Environmental Issues

Please see our case studies for examples.

Recruitment

Following discussion and agreement on the details of your project, we will advertise your SBP to attract undergraduates from any University that meets your clear job description and person specification. Applications will be made via application form and covering letter, when we can offer a ‘light’ initial sift of any applications that do not meet basic selection criteria; leaving you to select the most suitable candidates for interview.

Interviews

Your organisation will select and contact the most suitable candidates to attend interviews and reject unsuccessful candidates by email.  Once an ideal candidate has been identified and has accepted the position, we will issue the contracts.  We ask that you respond to candidates who have not been successful at interview and be willing to provide constructive feedback if requested by the candidate.

Training for Students

Successfully placed students attend an Internship Preparation Day and a Final Celebratory Day at the end of their internship, and will also have access to tailored online training material throughout their internship.  The University will support both your organisation and the successful candidate throughout the internship to ensure both parties get the best out of their SBP experience.

Cost

Students are expected to earn a minimum of £6.08 per hour inclusive of holiday pay subject to the level of responsibility and subject specialism required for the role – advice on rates of pay can be provided prior to going to advert.

We are occasionally able to offer government funding to subsidise salary costs and other expenses, and information on funding schemes and eligibility criteria can be provided in more detail.
