Our skills sessions take place during both the autumn and spring terms.

Skills training

Bookings for the 2014/15 academic year are now open.

Providing students with insight into what employers expect at the various stages of the recruitment process can be enormously valuable for their career development and help you ensure prospective applicants have the skills required to succeed in your recruitment process. Those delivered on a regular basis include:

  • Application forms
  • Interview techniques
  • Preparing for an assessment centre
  • Psychometric testing
  • Commercial awareness

Additional sessions which help prepare our students for the workplace also include:

  • Corporate social responsibility
  • Leadership skills
  • Networking
  • Presentation skills
  • Project management

When and where do they take place?

Skills sessions are delivered on campus during the autumn and spring terms. Lengths vary dependant on the topic but are usually between one – two hours. For daytime skills session we recommend scheduling your presentation from lunchtime onwards. Evening skills sessions start at 6.30pm.

Marketing and sign up

We operate an electronic sign-up system from our events web page, which will provide a good indication of the number of students likely to attend your event. In addition to web advertising, we also promote events via email and our social media channels. Although not a direct recruitment event, the organisation delivering the skills session will have their name attached to any marketing of the event.

When to book

In order to benefit from all the publicity opportunities and get the best attendance, we urge you to book a date with us as early as possible - many employers secure their preferred dates when we first open for bookings (early February for the upcoming autumn term).

Charges

There are no charges for delivering skills sessions which aid the employability of our students. However we respectfully request that such activity is not used as a direct recruitment tool.
