Exeter Entrepreneurs Society

Exeter Entrepreneurs' two key events run each year are the Rag Traders and the Exeter Apprentice.

  • The Rag Traders competition involves giving you an item of very little value to trade it with an item of the highest possible value you can achieve over a period of two weeks.
  • The Exeter Apprentice competition requires you to make the most possible profit over a period of one month and with a starting capital of £100.

Throughout the year, Exeter Entrepreneurs also have various speakers giving talks on aspects of entrepreneurship. Past speakers have included: Glenn Manchester, creator of Thunderhead, Katie Hopkins from the Apprentice, Deborah Meadon from Dragon's Den and Sir Bob Geldof!

For 2012/13, the Exeter Entrepreneurs President is Edward Noel. To get in touch with Edward, email him at exeterentrepreneurs@exeterguild.com.

You can also find the Exeter Entrepreneurs on Facebook and on Twitter.

ENACTUS Society

At the Exeter campuses, it runs the following projects:

  • InTouch - bringing Skype and Email into residential homes and community centres in order to unite the elderly with their loved ones on a more frequent basis.
  • Reach Out-Reach In - a commercial project focusing on rejuvenating the Exeter high street through a student-led marketing and finance consultancy team.
  • Links- helping rehabilitate and empower ex-offenders in the local Exeter area, by running CV classes and interview workshops in the prison.
  • Act-ivate - running drama workshops for children with social needs in order to empower them and make them feel more socially comfortable.
  • Exeter Careers Springboard Project - coaching school leavers aged 16-20 who are not currently in employment, education or training (NEETS) to equip them with the necessary skills to achieve their short and long term goals.
  • Blossom - helping people in need by providing them with skills developed by buying flowers in one market and selling them in another.

At the Cornwall campus, it runs the following projects:

  • Refugee Youth Project (RYP) - providing support for young refugees in London, Lebanon and Nepal, to create an effective, sustainable marketing and communications strategy.
  • BioDiesel Project- converting local waste oil into biodiesel that will be used to run university minibuses, providing an environmentally sustainable long term solution.
