Emergency First Aid and British Sign Language courses

Career Zone is pleased to offer the following Emergency First Aid and British Sign Language courses. Please note that the booking procedure is slightly different to other events publicised in My Career Zone.

Emergency First Aid

Emergency First Aid at Work is the new minimum standard First Aid qualification, approved by the HSE and accredited by Ofqual and the SQA. It is a friendly and enjoyable introduction to First Aid, and provides a sound understanding and confidence in basic life-saving techniques.

The course lasts for one day and costs £45. It contributes to The Exeter Award and you will receive a nationally recognised certificate which is valid for 3 years.

Course days are 8 hours with a 30 mins break for lunch.

British Sign Language

We also offer two British Sign Language courses: Basic and Advanced.

To facilitate fast learning and enhance your experience, the Basic course is facilitated by an instructor who is hearing impaired and taught according to language immersion principles - no interpreter is provided! You will cover a wide range of topics, including signing your name, greetings, and family.

The Advanced course covers a more challenging range of topics, such as expressing feelings, health and jobs. You need to have undertaken the Basic course before you can attend.

Both courses run over five weeks, each involves twelve hours tuition (2 hours for the first session, 2.5 hours for the last four sessions with a 15 mins break) and they both have a fee of £65. 

As long as you attend 4 sessions out of 5, both will contribute to The Exeter Award and you will receive a certificate.
