International Career Mentoring Pilot Scheme

The International Career Mentoring Pilot Scheme gives the opportunity for students to work on a one-to-one basis with a professional working in their chosen future profession outside the UK.

Who is the scheme for?

  • Penultimate year undergraduates graduating in 2014*
  • Postgraduate students graduating in 2013 or 2014
  • Students of any nationality

*You are eligible to participate in the scheme if you are currently on a study abroad year as part of an Exeter programme of study. You do not necessarily need to be in or from the same country as your mentor.

How does it work?

  • All mentoring opportunities will be advertised through My Career Zone from 1st October and will close on 30th November. When you have identified a mentor with whom you would like to work with, please complete the online application form and select the specific mentoring opportunity from the list.
  • Places are competitive and we will close each mentoring opportunity after receiving five quality applications. Therefore early application is advised.
  • Successful applicants will be invited to an interview with members of staff involved in running the scheme.
  • Training materials will be published online prior to the start of the scheme. All students are expected to complete the training, which is designed to prepare them for the mentoring process. Students who do not complete the training will not be permitted to start the mentoring relationship.
  • We aim to begin all partnerships by Feb 2013. Partnerships typically run for 6 – 12 months.

We expect students involved in the scheme to act as ambassadors for the University. This means complying with the terms of the scheme, which will be available with the application form.
