Welcome to all new students

Welcome new students!

We are the Career Zone - your careers service here at Exeter. We're here to help you develop the employability skills and knowledge that you'll need to help you get a good job when you graduate.

We can help with things like:

  • Researching careers and thinking about what options might be right for you
  • Finding part-time or casual work while you study and in the vacation periods
  • Getting some work experience or an internship
  • Practical advice on writing CVs and covering letters or how to prepare for interviews

We also arrange hundred of employability events each year on campus, ranging from traditional careers fairs where you can meet potential employers and speak to them about their graduate programmes, to interactive training sessions on how to use social media to hunt for jobs.

It might seem really early but the sooner you start thinking about possible careers and the skills that will make you more employable the better. We've created a Career Timeline to give you an idea of what you should be doing and when to boost your employability throughout your time here.

Where to find us

We have two physical Career Zones located in the Forum on the Streatham Campus, or The Compass on the Penryn Campus. Feel free to pop in and say hello - we have lots of hard copes of resources and our Information Teams will be on-hand to talk to you about career research, finding jobs and internships, our programme of workshops and events and a whole range of career related topics.
